How do we create new, or change existing, organisations to become more "occupant friendly"? By this I mean organisations that fully empower those who work for them. Various people write about it - Peters, Collins, etc - but are there any universal principals that we can apply? Hofstede and Trompenaar may argue that the issue is culture bound. Others may identify "good organisations" and work from there.

Many organisations seem to operate on half-steam. The people who work for them "leave their passion at the gate". Can we find an approach, philosophy, leadership model that encourages people to give more and makes provision for them to get more?
